Darcie is a classically trained flutist who also enjoys teaching jazz and music of all genres. Her primary teacher was Shelley Younge of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra; she also attended Alberta College in Edmonton for theory, harmony, history, as well as saxophone and clarinet. Darcie continues her professional development by attending master classes and summer session study, most notably with Sir James Galway, Paul Sheftel (teaches pedagogy at Julliard), William Bennett, and jazz great – Ali Ryerson. She has been teaching students aged 6 to 50+ for over 20 years and is delighted to help her students develop their musical skills and appreciation of music. Darcie performs professionally both as a soloist and as leader of the jazz trio, Suite Nostalgia.
